Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo shared a moment on Sunday evening. The pair were lining up on opposite sides of the UEFA Nations League fixture between France and Portugal, but exchanged words and laughs as they faced off.

Their meeting at the Stade de France wasn’t the first time that they had met, though. Back in December 2012, with Real Madrid looking to impress a young Mbappe, he was brought to the club’s facilities at Valdebebas. There, he met his idols and even posed for a photo with the Portuguese forward.

Eight years on, Sunday’s encounter was a coming together of two of the world’s very best players that left memorable photographic evidence and, naturally, sparked a lot of talk about what it could mean.

“Idol,” Mbappe wrote on Twitter afterwards, alongside two photos of the exchange he had enjoyed with the Portuguese superstar earlier. This expression of admiration for Cristiano was nothing new or unknown from the Frenchman.”He is a Real Madrid fan and his idol is Cristiano Ronaldo,” Mbappe’s father told France Football back in 2016. “He used to spend hours watching videos [of the now-Juventus forward] on the internet.”

“My first [idol] was [Zinedine] Zidane,” Mbappe confessed in an interview with the Mirror, “for everything he achieved with the national team. Then it was Cristiano Ronaldo. He has won a lot and continues to be a winner even after so much success.”

Now, Mbappe could go on to become Cristiano’s successor at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. His signing is something that Real Madrid have been working on since he first visited Valdebebas in 2012.

They came close to signing him before he joined Monaco, then closer again when he left for Paris Saint-Germain. With his contract set to expire at the Parc des Princes in 2022, the Bernabeu seems the most likely next destination for Mbappe.

Manchester United’s 25-man squad for the Premier League has been submitted in advance of Tuesday afternoon’s deadline.

This group does not include players under the age of 21, so Academy products Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood, and recent recruit Facundo Pellistri, fall into this category.

There are also two separate lists – the main one and another for the homegrown classification, which refers to players who, irrespective of nationality or age, have been registered with any club affiliated to the FA or FAW for a period of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before their 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which they turn 21). Hence, this does not merely refer to players who have come through our own ranks.

Marcos Rojo, who is back at the Aon Training Complex following his loan move in his native Argentina with Estudiantes, is one of 13 names on the non-homegrown list, along with new deadline-day signings Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani.

The limit for players on this particular list for all clubs has been set as 17 by the Premier League, with the rest made up of those fulfilling the homegrown criteria.

The CSL revamped its format because of the pandemic, playing the delayed campaign in two secure “ bubbles” over two phases.
In the first phase , Dalian won twice in 14 matches in their group , putting them into a relegation dogfight .
Benitez, who took Liverpool to Champions League glory in 2005 , has often said that he has the youngest team in the CSL .
He was also missing former Napoli star Marek Hamsik for the must -win match , but did have former Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon .
“ This competition was very difficult because a knockout competition is very difficult for young players, ” he said .
“ So to achieve what we have achieved is great news for them for the future because they will have more experience now .”
